Q. How do I register for the event?

Registration begins on June 30, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. Interested participants register and pay on the BTC Hike Schedule. Registration is limited to 100 hikers for the event. The cost is $75.00 for members and $90.00 for non-members. The registration fee covers the BTC Hike Schedule Processing Fee, daily bus transportation, and an end-to-end badge on completion.

Light refreshments will be served at checkpoints. Refunds are allowed only up to 60 days before the event. If you are not a member and would like to know how to become one visit memberships. Use referral code 67b33d6c8d815 as a coupon in the checkout process. Using this code will automatically apply a free set of digital maps of the Bruce Trail to your cart.

Q. Are these hikes the same as a regular group hike on the Bruce Trail?

A. These hikes differ in a few ways. Participants are shuttled by school bus from the meeting places to the start locations. Hikers hike independently or with other participants. There is no leader, but there is a designated “sweep,” an official end person. There are checkpoints every 7 – 11 km along the route. Volunteers provide light refreshments and beverages at the checkpoints.
Participants are expected to hike at a pace of approximately 4 km/hr or faster. There are cut-off times. The cut-off times are calculated using a 4 km/hr pace plus a 15 minute late start buffer and additional 15 minutes rest times at each checkpoint. Checkpoint set up times are based on a 7 km/hr pace.

Q. Can I follow the Trail without problems?

While the Trail through the Caledon Hills section is clearly blazed and easy to follow, it is helpful (but not essential) to have the most current maps or the Bruce Trail App. Be familiar with the blazing system, as described on the Bruce Trail website,. Since the route is along the main Trail, hikers
follow white blazes. If you are not that familiar with the Trail, it is recommended that you walk with other hikers. If you happen to get off the Trail, retrace your steps until you see the white blazes and then carry on. If a hiker does not pass through a checkpoint after a reasonable time, a search party will be organized.

Q. What should I bring with me?

A. Bring your regular day hiking gear. Please bring your own drinking cup or bottle to reduce waste at checkpoints. You may want to bring extra water, snacks, or a lunch for between checkpoints.

Q. Where do we meet and what parts of the Trail are covered each day?

A. All hikers meet at the end point of each hike and then are shuttled by school bus to the hike starting point for the day.
