A complete description of the roles and expectations can be found below. The start date will be after the April 2026 Annual General Meeting. We enjoy a team approach where volunteers are supported and encouraged.

Open Positons:

Director at Large

A Director at Large participates in the Board’s deliberations and decisions in matters of policy, finance, programs, and advocacy.

Essential Elements:

    • Be informed of the responsibilities of other Board members and provide support as required.
    • Lead ad hoc committees, projects, or pilot projects as needed.
    • Attend meetings of the Club’s Board of Directors and provide a written report before each meeting as required.

Support the mission and vision of the CHBTC and the BTC.

  • Be a member of the Caledon Hills BTC.

It is helpful to have:

  • good communication skills
  • commitment to the work of the Club and the BTC
  • an interest in assuming a more specific Board position when a suitable vacancy occurs

Public Relations Director

The Public Relations Director is responsible for creating and maintaining a positive public image of the Caledon Hills Bruce Trail Club and building positive relationships with various Club stakeholders through advertising, social media, local media coverage, and community events.

Essential Elements:

  • Be informed of the responsibilities of other Board members and provide support as required.
  • Ensure the Club and Bruce Trail Conservancy’s image/brand is relevant to everyone through events and media.
  • Ensure that the BTC image/brand is maintained within the Club.
  • Collaborate with directors and support volunteers to ensure important club news is shared/advertised across a variety of communication platforms.
  • Manage the Club’s social media accounts (currently Instagram and Facebook) including the creation of online content, responding to online comments from members and non-members, and inviting new followers.
  • Be responsible for promoting the Club to local media outlets.
  • Periodically arrange and manage CHBTC outreach stations at Trail hotspots and community events.
  • Maintain a list of public relations materials and provide storage for the materials.
  • Attend meetings of the Club’s Board of Directors and provide a written report before each meeting.
  • Chair the Public Relations Committee.
  • Support the mission and vision of the CHBTC and the BTC.
  • Be a CHBTC member.

It is helpful to have:

  • proficient digital skills
  • creative skills
  • time management and organizational skills
  • working knowledge of Meta Business Suite, Instagram, and Facebook
  • knowledge of public relations and marketing
  • strong verbal and written communication skills

Note:  Responsibilities for essential elements relating to advertising, social media, local media coverage, and community events can be assigned to other interested volunteers. These volunteers would become part of the Public Relations Team. They would not have to attend board meetings and would provide the Public Relations Director with updates for the director’s board report. The Public Relations Director would oversee and support these volunteers.

Caledon e-Comment Reporter

The Caledon e-Comment Reporter will work with the Caledon e-Comment Editor to write, edit, and proofread interesting stories and news items.

Essential Elements:

  • Co-plan with the Caledon e-Comment Editor for item coverage (e.g., identifying one or two stories or items per issue).
  • Write, edit, and proofread interesting short stories and news items.
  • Ensure that material is prepared for the deadline.
  • Where possible, provide photographs (with permission given by photographer and subjects) to accompany stories and news items.
  • Meet with the Caledon e-Comment Editor via Zoom as needed.
  • Support the mission and vision of the CHBTC and the BTC.
  • Be a member of the CHBTC.

It is helpful to have:

  • good organizational and communication skills
  • knowledge of newsletter production
  • excellent proofreading and editing skills
  • good photography skills to support written pieces
