Description:
Join BTC staff, Lyndsey Wilkerson, to work on the spring awakening of the Caledon Hills Seed Orchard. We will be doing a light weeding of the plots to help keep non-native species at bay while providing space for the native species to thrive. Some planting may be possible depending on the availability of native plants in the spring.
Bring gardening gloves and a shovel or trowel if you have one (extra gloves/shovels will be available), a full water bottle, sunscreen, a hat and closed toe shoes. Please dress for the weather – this event will run rain or shine.

Directions:
From ON-10 head east on Dufferin Road 8/Mono Centre Road for 5.5 kilometers.
Description:
Join Caledon Hills Biodiversity Team, Bruce Trail Conservancy, and Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority partners to help plant 350 trees and shrubs at BTC’s Whitetail Refuge Nature Reserve to create a forested corridor along Mono Centre Creek. The creek is part of the 3600km2 Nottawasaga River watershed, which flows downstream from the Niagara Escarpment to discharge into Georgian Bay at Wasaga Beach. This high-quality, cold-water river supports trout, salmon and a wide variety of other fish and wildlife. To help protect it from erosion, and keep it cool and oxygen-rich, projects like riparian tree planting help make it more resilient to a changing climate and land uses. This planting builds on earlier tree plantings completed in 2024, and will continue the forested corridor further downstream of last year’s plantings, so that eventually the riparian area will be treed for the entire stretch from the road to the pond.
Bring gardening gloves and a shovel or trowel if you have one (extra gloves/shovels will be available), a full water bottle, sunscreen, a hat and closed toe shoes. Please dress for the weather – this event will run rain or shine.
