Why is it called the Isabel East Side Trail?

The Isabel East Award is presented each year to a volunteer with the Caledon Hills Bruce Trail Club who demonstrates transparency, excellent communication and inclusiveness. These are skills Isabel exhibited during her 40 years volunteering as a recording secretary, landowner support, newsletter editor, social convenor and President of the Caledon Hills Bruce Trail Club. Isabel’s friendship with fellow Bruce Trail hiker and pioneer, Tom East, culminated in their marriage in 1975. By bestowing their names on side-by-side trails in Hockley Nature Reserve, Isabel and Tom remain united here as they were in life.
