November 17: Discovery Badge Blitz Hike #3,
9:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Location: Roadside parking on Coolihans Sideroad, east of where the Trail crosses the road. From Airport Road turn east onto Coolihans Sideroad. Drive 1.4 kilometres to roadside parking.

Pace: Brisk – 4 to 5 km/hour
Terrain: Moderate – some hills and/or some poor footing
Distance: 14 km shuttle
Description: Hike Three of the “Discovery Badge Blitz Series” covers Caledon Hill’s Discovery Hike 2, exploring parts of the main Trail, Mountainview Road and Songbird Side Trails, and the Dingle. Bring your choice of hydration and snacks or lunch. Hiking boots are recommended. All are welcome to join this hike. Hikers completing all three “Badge Blitz” hikes will receive their Discovery badges at the end of the hike. (The badge cost is $5.00.)

 

November 30: Cold Creek Conservation Area,
9:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Category: General Hike
Location: Cold Creek Conservation Area, on the 11th Concession of King, about 3 km north of the King Road.

Pace: Medium
Terrain: Easy
Distance: 8 km
Description: This will be a relatively easy loop hike.

 


December 8: Mono Cliffs Provincial Park
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Location: Map 19, Mono Cliffs. Roadside parking on the 2nd Line EHS north of 20 Sideroad.
From Hwy 10, turn east onto Mono Centre Rd./Dufferin County Rd. 8. Keep left to continue onto 2nd Line EHS to the end of road. Park on the right side.

Terrain: Moderate – some hills and/or some poor footing
Distance: 13 km loop
Description: Keep your fall hiking momentum moving in the very beautiful Mono Cliffs Provincial Park. Bring your choice of hydration and snacks or lunch. Depending on the weather, bring “icers.” There is a dropout point after 6 km. An optional refreshment stop is planned for after the hike.

 


January 12: Scotsdale Farm
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Location: Map 13, Silver Creek. Scotsdale Farm – north of km 29.7 Enter from Trafalgar Rd. 1.7 km northwest of Highway 7.
Take Hwy 7 north out of Georgetown. Turn right onto Trafalgar Rd. N/Halton Regional Rd. 3 and drive for 1.7 km, then turn right to enter the Scotsdale Farm property. Continue to the parking lot on the left.

Description: Our loop will take us along the picturesque Bennett Heritage Trail, Great Esker Side Trail, and parts of the Main Trail. Bring your choice of hydration and snacks or lunch. Depending on weather, bring “icers” and/or snowshoes. There is a dropout point after 4 km. An optional refreshment stop is planned for after the hike.

 

February 9: Forks of the Credit
9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Location: Map 15, Forks of the Credit. Roadside parking on the Forks of the Credit Rd. between Chisholm and Dominion Streets.
From Hwy 10, turn west onto Forks of the Credit Road and drive to roadside parking on right.

Terrain: Moderate – some hills and/or some poor footing
Distance: 11 km loop
Description: This wintery hike will take us along snow and ice covered Main Trail and area side trails, with the highlight being the forest trek to the Cataract Falls. Bring your choice of hydration and snacks or lunch. Depending on weather, bring “icers” and/or snowshoes. There is a dropout point after 7 km. An optional refreshment stop is planned for after the hike.
