Happy New Year everyone!!!

As we start a new year it’s good to reflect on the many highlights of the past year and the challenges and fun that lie ahead in 2019.  One of the key accomplishments is that our Trail has been 66% secured and we are that much closer to realizing our goal of “Preserving a ribbon of wilderness, for everyone, forever”.

The key to our success is the many volunteers who are committed to carrying out the Bruce Trail Mission and Vision.  Our Club is one of nine clubs who manage the 900 km of Main Trail and about half that amount again in Side Trails.  The core group of volunteers are the leadership team of club directors and support volunteers.  You can access the club website to see the names and roles of these amazing volunteers.  Next year we are expecting several people to take on new responsibilities on the Club board; the April 7, 2019 Annual General Meeting will confirm the new slate of directors.  Currently we also have two roles open, one is the Social Media Coordinator who manages the content and access to one of the most important communications sources of the Club.  The other is the Membership Director who is responsible for welcoming new members and contacting those with memberships that are expiring, a very key role to the ongoing health of our Club.  If you are interested in learning more about ether of these roles feel free to email me at bobeferguson@gmail.com or call 647-224-9116.

One other announcement: we are holding a special information meeting on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Inglewood Community Centre starting at 11:00AM.  The purpose of the meeting is to learn more about the recent changes in BTC leadership with Beth Gilhespy leaving her role as BTC CEO and the appointment of Leah Myers as Interim CEO.  You will have a chance to ask questions at this meeting to better understand the rationale for the changes.

I wish you and your family much happiness in 2019, and hope to see you at the many Club events planned, and of course, on the Trail!
