Spring Hikes Now Listed

While some of us are still hoping to enjoy quite a few more weeks of winter outdoor activities, I know many of you are eager to see the cold, snow and ice go.  You’ll be happy then, that Wiarton Willie (up near the trail in Wiarton!) has predicted an early spring, and we’ve just published our spring hike schedule.

If you weren’t on the trail much over the winter, you’ll probably want to ease back into a hiking routine with one of our Introductory hikes.  If you went out and embraced winter on the trail, then you may be more interested in our General, Tuesday, and Sideways hikes.

All hike schedules are also available in printable versions from the hike web pages to help you plan for and arrive at your hikes.  Our hike schedules are regularly updated, so don’t forget to check the website for new hikes.

While the arrival of spring can generate a lot of excitement about getting back outdoors, it’s important to keep in mind that early-spring conditions can be more like those of late-winter.  This means you might still encounter snow and ice on the trail, and temperatures can be much cooler than you expect, particularly in forested areas.  Take appropriate precautions, regardless of how beautiful the weather is before you leave home, and stay safe on the Trail!
